Hal Self Student Athlete Post Graduate Endowed Scholarship Fund

This endowed scholarship was established by the family of Coach Hal Self. Coach Self was hired in 1949 to bring football back to the UNA-then Florence State Teachers College- campus after a 20 year hiatus. He coached the Lions for 21 years, served as the athletics director for three years after leaving the field and was a member of the faculty until his retirement in 1984. In 33 years at the school, Coach Self never missed a day of work. Recipients of this scholarship must meet the following qualifications; first priority will be given to students who have played on scholarship for at least two years any varsity team and graduated and whose eligibility for scholarship has expired and enrolled as full-time post graduate student in any academic discipline at the University.
