Scholarship of Distinction in Engineering and Industrial Professions
The priority deadline for this scholarship is March 1, 2025.
This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Occupational Health Science.
To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of the US
- Be a first-time UNA student (either transfer or first-time freshman)
- Have a high school (or college transfer) GPA of 3.00 or higher
- Have an ACT score of 25 or higher (including Math and Science scores of 25 or higher)
This program is targeting first-time and transfer students; however, if funds are available, current majors may also qualify.
Engineering and Industrial Profession Scholarship Levels:
Purple-up to $13,000/year
Gold-up to $11,000/year
Silver-up to $9,000/year
This application will require a short video and a professional resume.
Here are the criteria for the resume:
- Limit the length of your resume to one page.
- Include sections for education, work experience, and extra-curricular activities.
- This is your opportunity to highlight areas beyond your academic work that can show evidence of work ethic, initiative, engagement with industry/community, etc.
Here are the criteria for the scholarship video:
- The video should be 2-3 minutes in length.
- Professional video equipment is not necessary to record your video. The video can be recorded with a smartphone, tablet, etc. The video will be judged on the quality of the content, not the quality of the video production.
- Upload your video to a video sharing service (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) and paste a link. You cannot upload the video itself directly to the application.
- You (the applicant) must appear in the video; not necessarily for the full 2-3 minutes (although, that is acceptable), but you must make an appearance.
Your video should address the following questions/topics:
- Briefly introduce yourself.
- Share with us why you want to come to UNA.
- Engineering majors: Describe which certificates you are interested in.
- Engineering Technology majors: Describe which of the engineering technology options you plan to pursue and why (electromechanical or power generation).
- Occupational Health Science majors: Describe why you would like to pursue a career in Occupational, Health, and Safety.
- Describe an ideal career for you (job title, company, industry, city/state/country, etc.).
- List and describe the skills (not subjects like “math” and “science”) you think are necessary for success as a professional in your desired field and to what degree you possess these skills.
