Marilyn Broman Tallman Visual and Performing Arts Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established by Anne Davis to honor Marilyn Broman Tallman. Ms. Tallman was raised in Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated form Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in mathematics and psychology. She moved to Florence, Alabama in 1949 as a young bride of Daniel C. Tallman. Her life in Florence has been filled with service to her family, church, and community. Over the years she had been active in a variety of areas, which includes playing the piano in elementary school plays, teaching Sunday school classes, volunteering as a Girl Scout leader and serving in the local Service League. Marilyn has shared her time and resources with the Kennedy Douglas Center for the Arts, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Riverbend Center for Mental Health, the Shoals Symphony, First United Methodist Church, and the University of North Alabama, along with many other organizations.
Recipients of this scholarship shall be awarded to full time students with preference given to a second year student who has a minimum 2.75 GPA and is pursuing a degree in visual or performing arts.
