Linda J. Kanipe Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established by Linda J. Kanipe to encourage Chemistry students to dedicate their lives to the service of teaching. Ms. Kanipe was a chemistry teacher at Coffee High School (later Florence High School) in Florence, Alabama for 30 years. During her career, Ms. Kanipe was recongnized as Outstanding High School Chemistry Teach by the Wilson Dam Section of the American Chemical Society on five separate occasions (1977, 1982, 1985, 1997, and 2004). She was selected as Teacher of the Year by the Florence City School System in 1991 and again in 2002, when she represented the District as a nominee for Alabama State Teacher of the Year.

Recipients of this scholarship shall be sophomores or higher enrolled full-time with a minimum 3.0 GPA and pursuing degrees in the Department of Chemistry with the declared intention to become chemistry teachers at the secondary or college level.
