Richard Glenn Lentz Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established by Dr. Richard Glenn Lentz in 2005. Dr. Lentz was a member of Kappa Tau Alpha fraternity, and a graduate of Sheffield High School. He joined the Navy in 1960 and served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. After his naval service, he graduated from the Florence State College, predecessor to UNA with a Bachelor’s degree in 1967, the Southern Illinois University with a Master’s degree in 1976 and the University of Iowa with a PhD in 1983. Dr. Lentz was a professor at Middle Tennessee State University, the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the California State University-Fullerton and the Arizona State University-Tempe. He published three books plus various articles and papers.
Recipients of this scholarship shall be full-time students in good academic standing pursuing a degree in the Department of English.
